Education

Dr. Quesada will be starting his practice at Ortho Montana in Billings on October 13th, 2026

Dr. Mario Quesada received his under­graduate degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barba­ra and his medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Quesada completed his internship and a trauma fellowship at the University of Florida Shands in Jacksonville, Florida. He pursued an orthopedic residency at Martin Luther King, Jr./Charles Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. Following residency training, he furthered his training in joint reconstruction and received fellowship training under the leadership of Drs. Michael Mont and Ron Delanois at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Dr. Quesada has been published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and in the Journal of Techniques in Orthopedics.

His desire and adoration for teaching include training and lecturing about hip arthroplasty (specifically anterior approach) to other doctors both nationally and internationally. Dr. Quesada has also traveled abroad to learn about cutting-edge orthopedic surgical techniques from other skilled and experienced professionals across Europe. 

Improved patient satisfaction and better outcomes are what motivate Dr. Quesada to train and learn more about different surgical approaches. He carries the minimally invasive principle into all aspects of his surgical practice when appropriate. This unmatched experience, coupled with his expertise in joint reconstruction, provides unrivaled outcomes to his patients.

Dr. Mario Quesada is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who has over 17 years of experience in joint reconstructive surgery.  He specializes in joint replacement and revision of the hip and knee and has performed over 5,000 replacements. Dr. Quesada uses a minimally invasive technique called the “anterior approach” on total hip replacements.
He also utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) Navigation for his total knee surgeries, as well as the “Nano Knee”.
